Chris Owen is a British ex-pat who has been living in California since 1984. He has climbed extensively in Britain, Europe, and North America. Learning to hike in the mountains of the English Lake District and climb on the gritstone edges of the Peak District. In 1994 he published his first guidebook to Stoney Point, called Urban Rock, now in its third edition. He also co-wrote the Holcomb Valley Pinnacles Guide along with Chris Miller, the leading developer. He is an active administrator for The Mountain Project, and a member of the Southern California Mountaineers Association (SCMA). He was heavily involved with the LA Mayor’s Office and the local council with Stoney Point clean-ups in the 1990’s. He works at the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) as an engineer, and has two teenage boys, who also enjoy the outdoors.
